Nancy Drew and The Hidden Staircase- Movie Review

Nancy Drew and The Hidden Staircase is an another disaster. This movie cannot attain a place even in box office. This is the major tragedy for Warner Bros. company. Failure is not an odd thing for WB. They have faced many financial issues for several films like Justice League, Jupiter Ascending, Pan, King Arthur and of course Nancy Drew etc. WB is always famous for trying new things. Sometimes it may fail and at sometimes it may attain the Everest. They are never rest in trying.

Before we entering into the movie review we have to see who is this Nancy Drew. Nancy Drew is a fictional character which is appeared in 1930. This character became famous on that time but slowly lost its reputation due to amateur crime solving techniques. Even though it is a failed one it is ranked as eighteenth favourite hero of all time. Nancy Drew is not much famous like Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple and Sherlock Holmes. In the beginning of twenty first century, this character started to appear in movies and grossed average. After a long gap again it is appeared in big screen again and it became a disaster. Most of the time it is quite success in the form of TV adaptations. She is called as "Queen of solving ghost crimes".

Nancy Drew and The Hidden Staircase is a mystical movie but mysteriously a failed knock. The film contains all usual elements of a crime/mystical film. This is a major drawback for the film. People are seeing variety of detective characters like Poirot, Sherlock Holmes etc but this is totally ridiculous. There is nothing new in this film and most of the portions are illogical. The film contains some optimistic elements like selection of artists, production quality, making and BGM. Those elements are totally wasted in this film.

The girl who acted as Drew gives her best and her acting makes the audience to keep patience till the end (even though it is just 90mins). If you want to pass the time for 90mins Nancy Drew is a good choice. If you compare with other famous detective characters, this 90 mins will be a disaster time for you. Overall an average movie which keeps testing audiences's patience.

CLUE (1985) Movie - Literary Analysis

         

          Clue is an another mysterious, a mild satire on elite dinner and crime thriller directed by Jonathan Lynn. When I was watching this movie, I could connect Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None. There are some movies which makes audience to write or share the review. This movie induced me to write the review because it is quite different from other crime movies. It is similar to Agatha Christie's writing style and Lynn gives  a chance to audience to think and analyse throughout the film. This review do not have spoilers.

            Nine guests were received a letter from an unknown person for an elite dinner. They do not know each other but in someway they are facing critical situation in their life (Like And Then There Were None). There are series of murders are happening in this film. These people try to find out the real victim by using their little knowledge. It is not an absolutely a thriller film but a suspense film. 

            It is the mixture of comedy and suspense. This movie is a good example for comedy created by confusion (particularly physical accidents). Another movie with  the combination of Shakespearean comedy and comedy of manners (The Restoration Period, William Congreve, The Way of The World). We call this type of comedy as SUNDAR.C LOGIC or SUNDAR.C COMEDY (In South India, the director Sundar.C is the king of making comedy films and he has his own style).

          This movie contains multiple theories for a murder which is revealed at last half an hour. It contains three alternate endings. Theories are explained by the character The Butler is a good technique to create a kind of an excitement among the audience. If you want to experience a crime dramatic satire, Clue will be a good choice. Try to watch this film and comment your views on it.
