The Model Millionarie - A Quick Summary

Here is the short summary of The Model Millionarie by Oscar Wilde.

Hughie was handsome young man. He had no job. His financial status was poor. He wanted to marry Laura Merton who was the daughter of retired Colonel. Colonel commissioned Hughie to earn ten thousand pounds of his own to marry Laura. Hughie was unable to fulfill the condition. So he was upset.

One day he met his friend Trevor, a painter. He saw a beggar was giving pose as model for Trevor's painting. When the frame maker had arrived Trevor left the room to meet the maker. Hughie used this opportunity and gave a sovereign to the beggar. After few days Trevor revealed that the model was a rich merchant named Baron Husberg.

Hughie was shocked and felt guilty for his foolish act. Hughie explained what was happened. After hearing this Trevor laughed like anything. One morning Hughie received a present from Baron ten thousand pounds which quoted as "marriage gift for Hughie and Laura". Thus Hughie's charitable act was rewarded.
