The Monkey (2025) - A Horror Movie Review

           The Monkey (2025) is a dark horror movie based on Stephen King's short story The Monkey. 

Plot: Theo James found a monkey from his dad's closet. Later he found that the monkey was cursed.Once the monkey's key was turned a death would be happened. Theo, with his twin brother tried to find the answers for the curse.



Positives:

  • The tone and mood of the movie.
  • The picture/cinematography's colour and quality.
  • The BGM, which adds more mystery and horror .
  • The cruel deaths like Final Destination movie.
  • Theo James's performance.


Negatives:
  • The plot reminds some movies like IT, Final Destination, Truth or Dare etc.,
  • If we remove the cursed monkey part, there will not be any new content.
  • The movie is slow burn and at some point it tested our patience.
  • The climax deaths are more cruel but it is filmed like a spoof movies.
  • There is no back story for the cursed monkey (may be they will reveal on the second part).
Overall:
          The Monkey (2025) is a good attempt and it is worth to worth to try for this weekend.
